✨ 10 simple ways to calm your mind ✨

April is Stress Awareness Month, so I thought I’d share a few simple ways to calm your mind and body when life feels a little bit overwhelming.

None of these take much time - but small things done regularly can make a huge difference.

1. Take five slow breaths
Slow breathing sends a signal to your nervous system to relax. Try inhaling through your nose for four seconds and exhaling slowly through your mouth.

2. Step outside for fresh air
A short walk, even just ten minutes, can reset your mind and help release tension.

3. Write down three things you’re grateful for
Gratitude gently shifts your focus away from stress and towards the positives in your day. A daily practice works wonders!

4. Stretch your shoulders and neck
Stress often shows up in the body first. A few gentle stretches can release tension you didn’t even realise you were holding.

5. Reduce screen time in the evening
Give your brain a break from constant information and stimulation... you'll find you sleep better too Zzzz....

6. Drink something warm and calming
Herbal tea, warm lemon water or a simple cup of tea can be a small moment of pause in a busy day.

7. Try a short mindfulness moment
Pause and notice what you can see, hear and feel around you.

8. Massage your hands
Gently rubbing your palms and fingers with your favourite hand cream can help relax the body surprisingly quickly.

9. Listen to calming music
Even five minutes can help your body to settle.

10. Give yourself permission to rest
Sometimes the most helpful thing we can do is simply stop and allow ourselves to rest and recharge....

Sometimes the smallest changes can make the biggest difference.

Why not try one tip a day this week and see how you feel? ✨
