Aromatherapy Back Massage ~ 45 mins ~ £36

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils from plants for health and wellbeing.

Massage with essential oils obtained from plants is well known for its soothing, relaxing and pain relieving benefits and has been practised for thousands of years. Each oil has different therapeutic properties and when oils are applied to the body through different massage techniques, they can be beneficial for a wide variety of physical and emotional conditions. A blend of essential oils is prepared according to the client's individual needs at that time. Many clients fall asleep during this blissfully relaxing treatment!

Aromatherapy oils can be applied in a variety of ways including massage, drops added to the bath, in steam inhalations or in oil burners. Essential oils are very concentrated and only a few drops are usually required. I only use high quality essential oils from companies which have been certified by the Aromatherapy Trade Council, including Neal's Yard Organic. This means you can be assured of the quality of the oils I use and gain the maximum therapeutic benefit from your treatment.

Aromatherapy oils all have different therapeutic benefits, and several oils with different yet complementary properties are generally used in a blend. It is this process of selection and blending in which the true art of Aromatherapy lies.

How does Aromatherapy Work?

Aromatherapy is not just about the smell of the essential oils, although our sense of smell is the only sense with a direct access route to the brain. Because of this the aroma of the oils we use will have an immediate effect on the brain and body. The skin is the largest organ in the body and is the most popular route for the application of essential oils. When oils are used in therapeutic massage or in the bath, they are absorbed directly into the skin and then into the bloodstream, which means they affect every system within the body.

What can I expect from a treatment?

The treatment takes place with the client lying down on a massage table, covered by towels and comfortable and warm. Only the area being massaged is uncovered at any one time.

An Aromatherapy Back Massage includes the upper and lower back, shoulders, upper arms and neck and takes about 45 minutes.

An Aromatherapy Full Body Massage includes the back, neck and shoulders, legs, feet, arms, hands, face and scalp, and takes about an hour and a half.

Aromatherapy massage is soothing and relaxing, and many clients fall asleep during their massage. A blend of oils is made at the time of the treatment, according to the client's individual preferences and may be different every time (although most of my clients have their favourites!) The facial and scalp massage can also be done without oil, or with an alternative medium if preferred.

Who will benefit from Aromatherapy?

Like most Complementary Therapies, Aromatherapy is not just a treatment to have when feeling ill, however it can be a very effective natural treatment option for a wide variety of physical and emotional conditions such as:

Stress/Anxiety/Depression
Muscular Aches And Pains
Poor Circulation
Headaches/Migraine
Poor Immunity
Eczema/Psoriasis
Asthma/Bronchitis
Digestive Problems/IBS
Menopause/Menstrual Problems/Pregnancy
Insomnia
Sinusitis/Congestion
Exhaustion/ME

A regular massage is always more beneficial, and most of my clients have a regular treatment, anywhere from once a week to once a month, and tell me they feel amazing afterwards!

Indian Head Massage ~ 45 mins ~ £36

Indian Head Massage is an ancient therapy traditionally practiced by Indian families who would pass the knowledge down through each successive generation. Like so many of the therapies we now know as complementary therapies, this treatment has been brought to the West in recent years and the benefits can now be enjoyed by so many more people.

Traditional Indian Head Massage was practiced on the hair and scalp, however the more modern practice tends to focus on the whole upper back, neck, shoulders and upper arms in addition to the head, face and scalp. These areas tend to be the centre of stress and tension which eventually causes pain and other conditions such as Headaches, Anxiety and Insomnia.

What Can I Expect From a Treatment?

The treatment usually takes place with the client seated and can be carried out either fully clothed or with just the shoulders and neck uncovered. Plain massage oil or an Aromatherapy blend can be used according to individual preference.

Starting with the upper back, upper arms and neck, a variety of massage techniques are used to warm the muscles, increase the circulation of blood to muscles and joints and work on areas of tension to reduce pain and stiffness. The treatment then continues with massage of the scalp and hair, which releases tension and calms the emotions. Finishing with a relaxing massage of the face, with attention to pressure points and lymphatic drainage, the treatment should leave the client feeling relaxed yet energised and uplifted.

Who will benefit from Indian Head Massage?

Indian Head Massage is a wonderful treatment for stress and of the symptoms we tend to feel as the body reacts to pressure from work, family, or life in general.

Some examples are:

~ Headaches/migraine

~ Muscle Tension in the Shoulders, Neck and Back

~ Stress and feelings of being overwhelmed

~ Anxiety/Depression

~ Insomnia/Disturbed sleep

~ Tinnitus

~ Sinusitis

~ Temporo-Mandibular Joint Tension (often caused by tensing the jaw or grinding the teeth)

~ Eyestrain

Indian Head Massage can work really well with a Hopi Ear Candling Treatment, depending on the condition being treated. I can offer a discount for both treatments booked together, please ask.

Hopi Ear Candling ~ 45 mins ~ £38

Ear candling is also known as thermo-auricular therapy and is an ancient technique practised by various cultures, including a Native American Indian Tribe, the Hopis, which gives this therapy its name. The candle flame creates a vacuum which helps to loosen wax and draw out other debris which may be in the ear canal. This treatment is a pleasant and relaxing experience and it does not hurt. Ear candling can be very beneficial for conditions of the ears and sinuses, including tinnitus, and is particularly beneficial when combined with an Indian Head Massage Treatment.

Pregnancy Reflexology ~ 60 mins ~ £46

Pregnancy is such a beautiful journey, but it can sometimes bring physical discomfort, stress, and hormonal changes. Reflexology treatments carried out once you are over 12 weeks pregnant can help to support your pregnancy health and wellbeing at this special time.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a gentle, non-invasive therapy which focuses on specific pressure points in the feet, combined with soothing foot massage techniques to promote deep relaxation and support overall wellbeing.

How Reflexology Helps During Pregnancy

~ Reduces Stress & Anxiety

Pregnancy can be an emotional time, and reflexology helps to calm the nervous system, reducing tension and promoting relaxation.

~ Improves Sleep

Many mums-to-be struggle with insomnia. Reflexology encourages the body to switch off and enter deep rest, helping with sleep disturbances.

~ Reduces Swelling & Improves Circulation

As pregnancy progresses, swelling in the legs and feet is common. Reflexology can stimulate circulation, encouraging better fluid movement and reducing discomfort.

~ Eases Back Pain & Aches

As your body adjusts to carrying extra weight, back pain, sciatica, and pelvic discomfort can increase. Reflexology works with the body’s natural pain relief system to ease these symptoms.

~ Supports Hormonal Balance

Pregnancy hormones fluctuate constantly. Reflexology encourages hormonal harmony, which can help with mood swings, nausea, and energy levels.

~ Prepares the Body for Labour

Reflexology may help encourage a natural and smooth labour by promoting relaxation and balancing the endocrine system. Some women choose to have treatments closer to their due date to gently support the body’s natural process.

Is Reflexology Safe During Pregnancy?

Yes! Reflexology is safe when carried out by a qualified practitioner who understands the specific techniques needed for pregnancy. At Poppy Therapies, I adapt the treatments to ensure comfort and safety at every stage.

If you're looking for a natural, relaxing way to support your body during pregnancy, Reflexology is a lovely option. Book your Pregnancy Reflexology session at Poppy Therapies today and enjoy an hour of peace, just for you and your baby.
